Scroll Down for Page ContentSince you are studying food why not increase your team's culinary awareness? A few years ago my sales partner was a gourmet cook and wine expert. Over the months in many cities he taught me the finer points of good cuisine.

So use this as opportunity to help them understand the difference between a leek and lard, Achiote and Au Gratin, or Nasturtium and Nutmeg. Have them learn about foods they would never imagine eating.

Help them learn that Crudités are good and a Mandoline is not a toy. That Mirepoix is healthy and Hollandaise is oh so good.

Make up some lessons and send them to us to post.

Specifically: The News for Food Safety Educators
http://www.foodsafety.gov/news/educators/index.html

FoodSafety.gov is the gateway to food safety information provided by government agencies.

According to the Key Findings of the Food Safety Working Group:

The federal government will enhance www.foodsafety.gov to better communicate information to the public and include an improved individual alert system allowing consumers to receive food safety information, such as notification of recalls. Agencies will also use social media to expand public communications.

Partnership for Food Safety Education

http://fightbac.org/education-a-outreach/139-curriculum-for-kids

The Partnership for Food Safety Education was formed in 1997 as a response to an independent panel report, "Putting the Food Handling Issue on the Table: The Pressing Need for Food Safety Education," which called for a public-private partnership to educate the public about safe food handling and preparation.

The Partnership was formally created with a Memorandum of Understanding signed on May 12, 1997, by the Secretary of Agriculture, Secretary of Health and Human Services and Secretary of Education, together with leaders of food trade associations, consumer and public health organizations, and the Association of Food and Drug Officials.

The Partnership is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. The Partnership's members represent the country's leading food industry associations, commodity groups and professional associations in the food sciences, health and nutrition.
