A Note about Printing Elements at Kinkos or Similar Stores: Some stores have refused to print our documents based on Kinkos corporate copyright policy. However, the documents below do not fall under the policy. If you have a problem just print out the FLL Communications Page at this link and show them you are authorized to use FLL and US FIRST Graphics.

A Note about Acrobat Files for MAC/LINUX Users: The  files below are in Acrobat 8 format for high quality reproduction. If you are on an older Mac or Linux system you may have problems opening them. Sometimes the MAC native PDF viewer does not show complex PDFs correctly. You should install the actual ACROBAT READER to view them. You can download the latest Acrobat Reader from Adobe at http://www.adobe.comHowever, Acrobat Reader 8&9 is not available for all platforms.

A Note about Downloading Files: It is always preferable to use the HTTP download method rather than just clicking on a file link. All you need to do is right-click on a link (on most computers) or click and hold on older Mac and choose the 'save as...' option. Depending on your browser this will read: "Save Target As..." or "Save Link As..." or "Save File As..." You can then save the file to your desktop or other location for use instead of opening it directly into your browser.

US FIRST RESOURCES: READ EVERYTHING AT THE CHALLENGE PAGES. DON'T SKIP ONE DOCUMENT.

Cool FTC Controller Overlay

Many teams saw the controller overlays that FTC 7 had in Atlanta. We are making the core Photoshop file available to all FTC Teams.

The download file below is a layered Photoshop file (illustrated to the right). See the notes below and have fun!

Notes:

  • You will need Photoshop CS3 or higher to manage this document.
  • You must have some proficiency in Photoshop to use this.
  • You must print this at 100% (not fit to page or margins).
  • Print onto 8.5 x 11 label sheets (or Euro equivalent). Trim and have fun.
  • Turn off the appropriate layers before printing (esp the ‘Contoller Photo’ layer).
  • The “PrintAreas” folder contains a blank label template. You can clone it and add your own colors and sections.

Send us some photos of your controllers and we'll post them here...

DOWNLOAD Photoshop file as a zip file. Right click and choose "Save Target/File As..." so save it locally.

Practice Bowled Over Scoring Sheet for Strategic Purposes

Updated 9/12/2011 at 12p US Eastern
Adds penalty scores and a way to show scored stacked on platform.

It is essential that you start early in your work to try timed and scored runs. Even if you only have a few missions done you should still practice them.

Remember, these are not official scoring sheets so please always always always check the game rulings at the FIRST LEGO League site.

Here is the link for their engineering notebooks:

We have used these books for the past four years. They are elegantly constructed, immensely durable, and feel and look great. They will emboss it with your team's name/number as well. They come in various sizes and pages counts. We recommend the A4 or 8 7/8 * 11 1/4" format.

And they are super friendly and ship everywhere...

This book contains the accumulated wisdom of several champion teams who have won major state level championships as captain teams. The volume is organized into sections covering every aspect of FTC competition, each section containing bite-sized chunks of information: a single sentence describing a tip, trick, strategy, or secret used by top ranked teams, followed by a paragraph or two of examples, explanations, pictures, or diagrams. Over four hundred of these recommendations are detailed in this book.
